I'm going to do it. I'm making the switch from Blood Angels to Tau!! They are more appealing to me and all my gaming buddies think it is better suited to my play-style. I think they are right as well. :)

Reserves

I've been looking futher and further into Reserves and Drop Pods. I must say, they both look really nice. Not only would it add an element of surprise, but it would also put the ball in my court as far as deployment goes.

My reserves would of course come in randomly, but I can put them where I need them most. Instead of what I do now. For some reason deployment has always been one of my boons. I deploy and it looks good to me, but somehow it is always better my opponent when I deploy.

Drop pods would get my heavy hitters where they are needed most. For instance, veterans with melta weapons. I could easily put them in the enemy back field and force attention on them, thus allowing my assault teams to move in and pounce. Not to mention what melta weapons can do to the rear armor of any tank in the game.

My play testing needed, but I'm really considering these two options.....

Blood Angels List

Well two tourneys down and no good luck so far..... First tournament I placed 9 of 10. Last tournament I placed 6 of 6... Case and point, I'm doing something wrong. But what is it? I took Honor Guard in my last tourney, which did nothing for me. And the other thing I noticed was the Vindicator likes to get shot at, ALOT. All my tanks get shot at to be honest, but what can I do about it? I've seriously been reconsidering putting Dreadnaughts back into my list. At least 2 of them. By dropping the Honor guard, that would give me enough points for 1.5 dreadnaughts. I could also slash some of my jump pack assault squads to get even more points. I normally run at least 3 assault squads in rhinos, 5 man squads. But lately I've ran a 10man assault squad with jump packs and power fist. It hasn't done much for me. By dropping or lower the points spent on that 10 man squad, I could get my second dread and add an attack bike or two. Sounds kind of good to me, but will it work? Not sure but I'm willing to give it a shot. So here is a basica run down of the list after alterations....

2 Dreadnaughts(not sure yet which variation I want, probly Furioso Venerable)

Not much for objective grabbing, but that's why my troops need to hide and let the rest of it do the work. Yes, they can still do some damage, but they are too valuable to lose in objective games. Now I just need to play test it... If this works, I'm missing a few models to complete it. I would need 2 Baal predators and at least 1 dread. Due to unforeseen happenings, I was recently given my Venerable dread back from an ebay auction gone weird. International shipping is a pain, that's all I can say....

Today is the big day. My first tourney, even though it doesn't sound like it will be very organized. Who cares, I'm going to have fun and destroy a new opponent. Time to get packed. I'll post photos of the painting work my wife and I did for the last few weeks. I've never painted so much in my life. >.<

There is finally a 40k Tourney i am able to attend, but I wonder if I am even able to field adequate enough models to do well.... I decided to sit down and figure out just what i do have in my army for models, this is what I figured out.

I had to tweak it to fit the 1750 point limit, but I think it looks like a decent list to compete with. There is plenty of anti-vehicle and anti-infantry potential, but will it work?? Anyone have any opinions on this list?

My son and I played a 600 point capture and control last night. The objective was the 'terrain' piece with the glue lid on it.

He was Tau and I was the good ol' Blood Angels. Playing with a 9yr old is certainly interesting. Attention spans are short and rules aren't known. Very intersting when the closest thing you have to a rulebook is the Reference sheet.

Tau forces:

Shas'o w/ Plasma Rifle-Missile Pods-Targetting array, Hard-wired drone controller, 2 x Shield drones, and hard-wired multi-tracker. My personal favorite load-out.

Two 8-man firewarrior teams with Shas'ui and bonding knife.

6-man firewarrior team with Shas'ui and bonding knife, mounted in a Devilfish.
Devilfish with Disruption pods, Smart Missile Systems, and Multi-tracker

Last but not least, a Piranha with Fusion blaster, Targetting array, Disruption pods, and sensor spines.

Blood angels:

3- Death Company marines with jump packs

We played the long way, so this should help the Tau some, but I do have packs to close the distance pretty fast. Camera isn't very good but it works for now.
